Facts about the Wise Men.
#1. In its original use, the word “MAGI” denoted three things:
~ Philosophers. ~ Priests. ~ Astronomers.
#2. These learned men dwelt in Persia and Arabia.
#3. These men were devoted to astronomy, religion and medicine.
#4. They were held in high esteem by the Persian court.
#5. They were Gentiles, interested in seeing Jesus the Jew.
#6. They were rich and brought free will offerings (v. 11).
#7. They came a long way from the east (from Chaldea or Persia) and
didn’t shrink from the task, toil and travel over dangerous terrain
to see Jesus.
